Plein Air: Missoula, Montana
By: Kristina Lyn Heitkamp
A short drive from home, Rex and I decided to stay close on that Wednesday eve. Our location: Fort Missoula. The Fort was founded in 1877 when two companies of the U.S. Army’s Seventh Infantry were stationed there during the Indian Wars. Later the Fort was used a training facility during WWI, and as in internment camp during WWII. Many of the old buildings still stand. Fort Missoula is a visible link to America’s war history.
Today the grounds hosts a museum and several great areas for dog-walking, trail running, or plein air writing and painting.
